The hip flexor stretch is a staple in our warmups here at A|M Fitness. Hip mobility is a huge talking point and is one of our main priorities during our warmup. But is there another way, maybe even a better way, to perform this stretch? If you’re having pain or have suffered a hip injury, there may be a better option.

This particular variation of the hip flexor stretch allows you to get a good stretch without sacrificing your anatomy. This stretch keeps the head of the femur safely in the joint without forcing it forward in the joint, leading to possible labrum tears, and without pressing it into the psoas muscle, the muscle that keeps the femoral head in place.
